With the holidays just around the corner, we wanted to organize something we can be a part of to give back to our community. With all the chaos and uncertainty this year has brought us, we wanted to close the year with warmth and gratitude by giving back to those less fortunate.
Feeding San Diego is a Food Drive dedicated to building a hunger-free and healthy San Diego, dispersing the food to several food banks in the area. Food donations allow FSD to access a broader variety of food, such as canned meats, soups, fruits, and vegetables. These items are often difficult to obtain in bulk. FSD encourages food donations to be wholesome, minimizing empty calories and harmful ingredients.
- Peanut butter
- Canned tuna
- Canned chicken white meat
- Canned fruits in natural juices
- Canned soup (chicken, tomato or vegetable)
***No glass, please.
AniMeals is Helen Woodward’s Relief for COVID-19 Program. Their mission is to keep pets in the home regardless of the logistical or financial challenges faced by our clients which include homebound and low-income elderly, physically or psychologically impacted veterans, the disabled, and the homeless. At this time, Helen Woodward Animal Center’s AniMeals food assistance for pets’ program is graciously offering a two-week supply of dog and/or cat food for individuals that have been laid off due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
- They are accepting unopened, non-expired, non-prescription based foods (canned and dry) and treats.
- Toys are also a great donation item.
We currently have two bins dedicated towards donating food items for both food drives located in the front office. Please drop your AniMeals and Feeding San Diego food items directly in the bins. We have also included links below if you would also like to make monetary donations straight to the organizations.
